Excerpt #7: Listen to the Man: Part 1

They were holding hands again and this time he wouldn’t let go.

“We have got to stop meeting like this,” she clichéd, gesturing to their hands.

“I wouldn’t have to do this if you would just listen.”

“I am.”

“Are you?”

“Yes, and people are staring.”

“So let them. What are you afraid of? That they are going to assume we are a couple?”

“But we are not.”

“Not what?”

“A couple.”

“So I have noticed.”

“How’s your Keeper?”

“She quit.”

“What? Why?”

“Because you wouldn’t listen.”

“She broke up with you because I wouldn’t listen?”

“No, I did.”
