Another Day

It’s so easy to say just do it,

Just say it like you mean it

And let the pieces fall

Where they may.

But when I see you

Sitting in front of me,

All I can do is stare, in front of me

As my heartbeat escalates.

Judging our inactions isn’t the hard part,

Seeing our interactions is the hard part,

Knowing the cowards we have been

And will continue to be.

While at the surface all will be normal,

Yet beneath the surface I will be hopeful,

Hopeful one day, we will…just say it.

Maybe one day our hearts will beat in tandem,

Beat in a chorus of sweet anticipation,

And we will stare at one another

For once, in truthful silence.

Our hearts will say, Just say it.

Maybe another day, we will say.

She hasn’t gotten a clue

Of what’s around her,

Only the doubts she carries

Surround her.

They find their way

into her core,

Feuling her desire to hide

Forever more.

She sees those

That grasp life and seize the day,

Tries to follow their steps,

But stops at the bay.

They see the light,

They are now free,

But all she finds is darkness,

Stranded at sea.

She hasn’t gotten a clue

Of what’s around her.

I thank the heavens,

I have found her.

Now together maybe

We can seize the time,

And conquer the helplessness

We used to mime.

The Truth About Forever

The Truth about Forever,

Do you really want to know?

I can tell you, if you want

But then I have to

Let go.

What’s forever? Does it exist?

Will we ever know?

I can tell you what I think,

But I have

No evidence to show.

Forever is a word, a concept,

A time.

Forever, for me, it’s not worth

A dime.

Even if we live forever,

What will that do?

If we live, you and I

Not, me and you.

Forever, forever,

I will never complain,

If today we live happy,

And tomorrow

We remain.

The truth about Forever

Is that it’s a lie,

Because in the end

All things are meant

To die.
